Orthodontic treatment improves tooth alignment = Great smile

Although your teeth are firmly attached to your jawbone, they can be moved, thanks to the flexible membrane that surrounds the roots. During orthodontic treatment, the pressure is applied to the membrane, which allows the roots to move.

Braces and Invisalign use different treatment approaches, although both methods align teeth effectively. If you choose metal or ceramic braces, your orthodontist will apply brackets to your teeth and thread archwires through the brackets. You’ll return to the office periodically for adjustments to the wire tension and brackets. Adjusting the wires and brackets changes the pressure on your teeth, which gradually repositions them.

Invisalign also improves the alignment of your teeth using pressure. Instead of the wire-and-bracket method, Invisalign relies on clear, removable aligner trays to reposition teeth. With just a quick 3D scan of your teeth, Dr. Madson and Invisalign create a series of customized aligner trays and plan your treatment. You’ll wear each set of aligner trays for a week or two, then swap them for the next set. Aligner trays are worn for the majority of the day, at least 22 hours.

Which options seems the best for you?

Before you choose an orthodontic treatment, you’ll need to consider:

  • Cost: Whether you choose Gold, Silver, Clear Braces OR Invisalign, the cost is exactly the same. We want you to choose what is best for you!
  • Appearance: Metal braces are very noticeable, while ceramic braces are made of clear or tooth-colored brackets. Invisalign aligner trays are clear and offer the most discreet straightening option.
  • Your Orthodontic Concerns: Metal and ceramic braces and Invisalign are all great options if you have orthodontic concerns; including crowding, gaps, crooked teeth, or bite problems. During your complimentary consultation at Pura Vida Orthodontics, one of our expert orthodontists will listen to your orthodontic concerns and offer options available to you.
  • Care: You’ll need to brush and floss around wires and brackets carefully if you choose metal or ceramic braces. You’ll also need to avoid hard foods that can damage your braces. Invisalign aligner trays are removed when eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing and don’t require any changes to your usual routines.
